The Dalles Service Center hosts Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
The Dalles Salvation Army Food Pantry recently moved to a new location and reopened as a “Shopping Style” Food Pantry. The food pantry is open each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1-3 p.m.
On Tuesday, May 23 from 5:15-5:45 p.m. The Salvation Army hosted a Ribbon-Cutting ceremony and offered tours of the new location. The Columbia Gorge community was invited to learn more about this program and opportunities to get involved through volunteering.
In the new "Shopping Style" food pantry, clients are led by volunteers through the food options available. By offering a choice of food staples, while respecting the family's individual and cultural dietary needs, they are better able to serve the community and help to eliminate food waste.
Kristen Harmon, The Dalles Service Center Coordinator, noted: “The Salvation Army is still in The Dalles, and we are still helping our neighbors in the fight to end hunger in our community. We are actively seeking volunteers who want to help us help our neighbors.”
